The short version
zQR makes your QR codes inside your own web browser. What you type (links, Wi-Fi passwords, contact details), the logos you upload and the images you scan are never sent to our server or to anyone else.
What our server receives
Our server only delivers the website's files (pages, styles, scripts, images). Like any web server, it may keep standard access logs (IP address, time, page requested, browser type) for security and to keep the service running. These logs never contain your QR code content.
What is stored on your device
To make the site more convenient, your browser's local storage keeps:
zqr:themeandzqr:style: your colour mode and style (Classic or Android 17);zqr:state: your last QR type, content and design, so they are there when you come back;zqr:history: the codes you downloaded, listed under “Recent”.
This data stays on your device. You can delete it by removing entries in “Recent” or by clearing this site's data in your browser settings. The only cookies are the sign-in cookie for zQR accounts and a short-lived one used during Google sign-in.
Accounts and sign-in
If you create a zQR account, we store your email address and either a securely hashed password (we cannot read it) or, if you use "Continue with Google", your Google account ID and name as Google shares them with us. A sign-in cookie keeps you signed in on each device; you can sign out from the Account page at any time.
To count the free QR codes per day, we store a fingerprint (a one-way hash) of each QR code you download — not its content — together with your account, or a hashed form of your network address when you are signed out. The hashed network address also stops one network from creating many free accounts. These counts are deleted after a few days. We never see the QR code content itself.
Purchases
If you buy zQR Pro, the payment is handled by Paddle.com, our reseller. Your card details go to Paddle and never reach our server. We keep the transaction or subscription reference, the amount and the renewal date with your account so we can give you access. You manage or cancel a subscription in Paddle's customer portal, linked from the Account page.
Camera
The QR scanner only uses your camera after you press “Start camera” and your browser asks for permission. The video is processed on your device and is never recorded or uploaded.
Advertising
Free users may see a few ads, for example from Google. Ad partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show and measure ads, and in some regions to personalise them; Google explains how at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. We ask for your consent where the law requires it. If you choose to watch ads for extra QR codes, we record only how many ads you finished today, not what you saw. zQR Pro shows no ads.
