What is a Wi-Fi QR code?

A Wi-Fi QR code holds your network name (SSID), password and security type in the standard format that iPhone and Android cameras understand. Scanning it shows a Join network button. Because zQR makes the code on your device, your Wi-Fi password is never sent to any server.

Tips for a code that scans

  • Type the network name exactly as it appears, including capital letters and spaces.
  • Choose WPA/WPA2 unless your router says otherwise; most networks use it.
  • If you change the Wi-Fi password, make a new code: the old one will stop working.

How do guests use a Wi-Fi QR code?

They open the camera on an iPhone or Android phone, point it at the code and tap the Join or Connect button that appears. Older phones may need a QR scanner app.

Is it safe to put my Wi-Fi password in a QR code?

The code contains the password, so anyone who scans it can join, just like telling them the password. zQR never sees it: the code is made in your browser. For visitors, a separate guest network is a good idea.

Does it work for hidden networks?
