Selling in shops? Retail EAN and UPC numbers must be registered with GS1 for your company; this tool draws the barcode for a number you already have.
Which barcode should I use?
- EAN-13: products sold in shops almost everywhere. 12 digits plus a check digit.
- UPC-A: products sold in the USA and Canada. 11 digits plus a check digit.
- EAN-8: very small packages. 7 digits plus a check digit.
- Code 128: any text or number, for shipping labels, stock and tickets. The most flexible.
- Code 39: capital letters and digits, common on ID cards and in industry.
- ITF-14: the 14-digit number printed on shipping cartons.
Print barcodes in black on white, without stretching them, and test with a scanner or phone before printing many.
